But the Lord said to Gideon, The people  are still too many; bring them down to the water and I will test them for you there. Then it will be that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ the same shall not go. (Judges 7:4)”

It happened on the same night that the lord said to him, ”Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand (Judges 7:9).”

Be reminded that the title of this series is The Battle Belongs To God. God wants to be in charge. Whether it is an assignment or just ordinary battles of life with the enemy of our souls, God is the commander in chief. Here Gideon is under directions on who to take to the battle ground and who not to. This means God chooses the resources we will use in battles, especially when it comes to people fighting alongside us. He used his own filtering method to ensure Gideon had only the right people with him in the battle ground. When we serve with the people God has handpicked then we are assured of victory. These usually end up being people who are single minded and have a dedication to the mission of God. You will not have to fight arrogance and pride in them. They are in it for God’s glory and not for personal gain.

After God has sorted out the people He wants to use in the battle He tells Gideon, “Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.” This is very powerful beloved. I pray that you get it. Gideon was going to battle with the Midianites. He was ready for a fight, to do whatever it took to bring victory. Then God says I have delivered your enemies into your hand. Do you notice the tense of the statement? As far as God is concerned it is a done deal. It is over. In other words God determines which side wins. Do you get it? The battle is not about Gideon and the Midianites or Israel and the Midianites. The battle belonged to God. He alone decides which side walks out with victory. It doesn’t matter how big or vast the enemy is.  God has the final word. Let me ask you a question, what battle are you facing today? I dare you to name it. Be encouraged by this: the outcomes of our battles are decided upstairs, in the counsel of God. As long as God is in it, as long as He is in the ring fighting with you, you cannot lose the battle. You may be knocked down, but cannot be knocked out. He is your couch, and also the referee of the match. He will not blow the final whistle until you have decisively won. Hallelujah!!

I sense the anointing again. Somebody reading this is receiving a specific word for the battle in his or her life. God says, “go down against the adversary, I have delivered him into your hands!” It doesn’t matter the nature or size of your battle. Go down against it. Go down against cancer, against demons, against sickness and diseases, against poverty, against examinations, against visas, against the spirit behind your wicked boss or spouse, and against obstacles standing in your way. God is in the ring directing your punches. Like the way He directed David’s stone, your Goliath will fall down. God will give the mandatory ten counts, and then blow the whistle! Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph through Christ Jesus, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge place (2Cor 2:14).
